‘Unlucky in love’ Ali is back as The Bachelorette

COULD her third time be the charm new Bachelorette Ali Oetjen needs in the search for true love?

It's her third tilt at a reality show having placed third on Tim Robards' season of The Bachelor, and failing to sustain love after Bachelor In Paradise.

But the sales executive is optimistic about her chances.

"I'm 32, unmarried and don't have any kids," Oetjen told The Daily Telegraph.

"My parents are people I really look up to and I really want that partnership to spend my life with ... and I really want kids.

"I will have the best opportunity to pick wisely because I am going to have a range of beautiful Australian men to pick from."

Fans of the franchise may remember her from season one of The Bachelor with Tim Robards. She famously went in for a kiss on their first meeting at the cocktail party where she was brutally rejected.

Her persistence paid off later when she scored the first kiss of that season.

Another thing she was known for was breaking her leg after she tried to impress Robards by jumping into the water from a boat on their date. She needed two surgeries and a knee reconstruction.

The bubbly blonde later went on to finish second runner up (and in tears) to eventual winner Anna Heinrich - the loved-up pair are getting married this year.

Oetjen follows previous Bachelorettes Sophie Monk, Georgia Love and Sam Frost.

It comes just a few months after Oetjen's breakup with American Grant Kemp from Bachelor In Paradise, after the pair failed in their attempts to negotiate a long-distance relationship between Los Angeles and her home of Adelaide.

Before her stint on Bachelor In Paradise, she was engaged to Dave Waldeck.

"My time in Fiji (on Bachelor In Paradise) was so real and I did fall deeply in love with Grant," she said.

"Unfortunately the distance got between us so I'll be sticking to Australian men from now on."

Oetjen is hoping the fact she's appeared as a contestant previously will help her find love.

"I'm hoping I will see the fakes from the real ones," she said.

In the past she said she hasn't found the one because she knows exactly what she wants.

"He has to be perfect for me and anything that falls short of that, I won't settle for".

The Bachelorette is likely to air later this year after The Bachelor starring rugby union star Nick "Honey Badger" Cummins.
