Teenager's motocross dreams ruined

IPSWICH teenager Jayden Starrenburg has been left devastated after brazen thieves stole the trail bike he was given as a birthday present less than a week ago.

The new KTM 125cc bike was taken from the Starrenburg family's West Ipswich family home in the early hours of Monday morning.

Jayden, a keen motocross rider, had only taken his new wheels for one spin around Tivoli Raceway over the weekend before the callous crims struck.

"He has been racing for seven years and he was so much looking forward to getting this bike," Mr Starrenburg said.

"We had just picked it up last Wednesday and he was so excited he was telling everybody about it."

The family discovered the theft early Monday morning. The thieves had come onto the property during the night, sneaking 60m into a garage, where they removed the bike from its trailer and wheeled it away.

"They clearly knew what they were looking for," Mr Starrenburg said.

"It's the type of thing you think will never happen to you, and when it does you are devastated."

The theft has been reported to Ipswich police, who have taken fingerprints from the scene.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Mr Starrenburg directly on 0409 595 675.
