Teen still in custody on taxi assault charges

THE bail application for one of the teenagers charged with bashing a taxi driver and stealing the car has again been adjourned.

Shaun Darryl Tetau, 18, appeared in custody in the Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday.

Tetau is charged with assaulting or obstructing a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driving while suspended, failing to stop, wilful damage, entering premises to commit an indictable offence and two counts of robbery with actual violence while in company.

Some of the charges relate to an incident unconnected to the theft of the taxi.

Tetau was serving a suspended sentence for robbery with violence, handed down in June.

Magistrate Donna McCallum said Tetau's history meant he could be in "real trouble". His matter was adjourned to Friday.
