Teen charged with alleged stabbing of 15-year-old girl

A TEENAGE boy has been charged with grievous bodily harm after he allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old girl multiple times.

The boy, 16, allegedly stabbed the girl in the chest and abdomen while at a residence on The Strand in North Ward in Townsville on Sunday morning.

The alleged victim was taken to Townsville Hospital where she remains in a stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Police have charged the Kirwan boy with grievous bodily harm and he will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Police have confirmed the pair knew each other.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, police have charged a man after he allegedly put a woman in a headlock and stabbed her in the leg at a home in Townsville.

The 19-year-old allegedly returned to a Aplin St residence in the early hours of Sunday morning where he began arguing with a 38-year-old woman.

Police allege he then put her in a headlock before another woman inside the home tried to intervene in an effort to separate the pair.

The man then grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed the woman he had held in a headlock before he left the room and punched a wall.

When he returned a short time later he allegedly grabbed a second knife and stood over the woman as he made threats to harm her.

He then left the home before police arrested him.

His alleged victim was taken to the Townsville Hospital where she received treatment to the wound in her leg. She was released later in the day.

Police have charge the man with one count each of wounding, wilful damage and threatening violence.

He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
