Teen, 13, vanishes after she misses her school bus
THE family of a missing 13-year-old Victorian girl have told of their heartbreak and fear for her safety.
Jodie Binks-Brown went missing from Romsey, north of Melbourne, last Friday after missing her school bus when she ran home to get shoes she said she had forgotten. Her parents later found her gone, with her backpack and a bicycle missing.
It's thought she may have gone to the Kyneton area to see relatives the family were estranged from.
Her parents and aunt on Sunday pleaded for her safe return.
"Jodie, please, we just want you to come home. We just want to know you're safe and warm," her aunt Tracey told reporters.
Jodie's mother, Lesley Brown, told the Herald Sun of her shock at finding her daughter's belongings gone, and a note saying she was going away.
"It broke my heart," Mrs Brown said.
"My mind just went into overdrive, thinking of (what could have happened to Jodie).
"Her whole family, extended family, friends, have been driving around hundreds of kilometres looking for her - day and night."
Police will resume the search in the Romsey and Kyneton areas on Monday.
