Talented Broncos no underdogs, says Storm star

CENTRE Will Chambers says the Brisbane Broncos will be no underdogs when they travel to Melbourne to play his Storm on Friday night.

Having played with so many of the Broncos while on State of Origin duty with Queensland, Chambers is acutely aware of the talent the visitors will bring to AAMI Park.

The Broncos have won just four of their past 23 games against this year's minor premier.

But Chambers (pictured) says the Storm needs to be switched on ensure that next win does not occur in the preliminary final.

"People have started calling them the underdogs - that's crazy," Chambers said.

"They're a top-four side and they've played finals footy the last couple of years as well so it will be even par with us.

"(Coach) Wayne Bennett will have them jumping out of their skins."

The Storm snuck home by two points when the teams last met in round three.

"There's individuals who are pretty special like Anthony Milford, Ben Hunt, Adam Blair and Sammy Thaiday, who have been playing good footy and the list goes on.

"If we don't defend well they're a team who can put a lot of points on you very fast."

Chambers did acknowledge his side was in better shape than this time last season when Billy Slater and Nelson Asofa-Solomona were sidelined with injury.

"We've had a good freshen up and we've got a full list to pick from which is good to have at this time of year," Chambers said.

"That's the biggest difference from last year."
