Sydney Comedy Festival turns 7

CELEBRATING its seventh birthday, the Sydney Comedy Festival's four-week chuckle party begins on Tuesday.

About 100 Australian and overseas acts will tickle fancies all across town.

There are only a few solo women stand-ups (nine females against 52 males) but among them is a strong wave of emerging talent.

Winners of almost every big comedy award, the Pajama Men are in town for one night only with In the Middle of No One (April 28, 9.30pm, Enmore Theatre, $39/$34).

This time there are jive-talking ice beasts, a centaur with two ponytails and a mission back in time to stop time travel.
