Ukulele workshops provide sweet summer sounds

IT MIGHT be winter but the Royal Mail Hotel is heating up by spreading the summer vibes with some new ukulele workshops.

Vic Kena from The Australian Ukulele Show will be hosting the workshops at the hotel and said the ukulele was a perfect instrument for beginners.

"It's a really easy instrument to learn to play," he said.

"Everyone will be able to play a song after one session.

"The ukulele is also great for more skilled players because there's a lot of intricate stuff to learn as well."

Mr Kena has been playing the ukulele for three years and said he wanted to share his love of music with the local community.

"You can play jazz, rock and more intricate styles on a ukulele as well," he said.

"There'll be something for everyone."

Workshops will be held from 11am-12.30pm on July 5 and 19, August 9 and 16 and September 6 and 13 at the Royal Mail Hotel, 90 Brisbane Tce, Goodna.

The group classes cost $10 each and are best suited to players aged 12 and above.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own ukulele and display book for lesson sheets.

Registration is necessary.

Phone the Royal Mail on 3288 2213 to book.
