Suspect bowling sees 128 Sri Lankan players banned

SRI Lankan cricket officials have banned 128 players found to have illegal bowling actions.

Following last year's targeting of suspect bowling actions by the ICC, Sri Lankan Cricket established a suspect bowling action review committee.

It identified 170 players - both spin and fast bowlers - with 42 of those cleared after changing their actions. The other 128 remain suspended and are unlikely to play again as specialist bowlers.

The PCB's crackdown followed the suspension of top spinner Saeed Ajmal (pictured) by the ICC after tests showed he straightened his elbow up to 43 degrees, significantly above the permissable 15 degrees. Ajmal has since amended his bowling action, but did not take part in this year's World Cup.
