Coast paddler second in Hawaii

HE just keeps on going.

Evergreen Sunshine Coast paddler Clint Robinson finished second at the Molokai Surfski World Championships in Hawaii yesterday.

The 39-year-old came in second behind 12-time winner Oscar Chalupsky in a neck-and-neck contest.

There was little in it for most of the 51km race before South African Chalupsky hit the front with 20 minutes remaining to break the tape in 3 hours 24.08 minutes with Hawaii's Pat Dolan in third.

Robinson finished just 19 seconds behind Chalupsky in 3:24.26.

Sunshine Coast product Rowena Coghill won the women's race, 19 minutes ahead of her nearest rival.

The former Kawana Waters State College student finished in 4:21.42.

Maroochydore's Martin Kenny finished sixth in the men's race in 3:27:33 on a good day for the famous name.

His brother Grant was a late inclusion and finished 24th, three places behind his son Jett.

The race was 18-year-old Jett's first marathon distance event in 3:54.03.
