Stunning sight at Somerset

THIS is the view that chopper pilot Mike Jarvis was treated to during a flight over the Brisbane Valley at the weekend.

The Pterodactyl Helicopters captain said a series of opportunistic photographs was taken to show just how much difference the rain had made to our once-desolate water storages.

“It's a flaming huge difference – Wivenhoe especially,” he said.

“It was like a trickle of water surrounded by a brown moonscape, but now everything is a rich green; like you're flying over New Zealand.”

The rain has forced the temporary closure of Wivenhoe and Somerset dams to all recreational activities.

Maroon Dam is open for boating and fishing only.
