Stunning photo of humpback whale's eye is up with best

THE majesty of the Fraser Coast's humpbacks has won a former Chronicle photographer an honourable mention in a prestigious photography competition.

Daniel Tweed entered the 2013 International Photography Awards with his photo titled Sharing Souls, a close up of a humpback whale which showcased his talent as well as the beauty of the animal.

It gained an honourable mention in the wildlife category in a competition that received almost 18,000 entries.
