Stunning lightning photo goes viral

SHANE Galvin said it was a "poo your pants moment" but he's glad he captured the moment a huge lightning strike hit the Coast.

The photographer shot the stellar photo, which has now gone viral on Facebook, during Saturday night's storms.

"I have captured an absolute monster last night," he said.

"I took this shot...in Bellvista, Caloundra around 6.30pm looking directly south into the oncoming storm.

"After so many let downs from mother nature she has opened the bag of tricks. I haven't edited it properly yet but you can see it's a beauty. There was a slight poo your pants moment there after."

Other keen Coast photographers may have more opportunities to capture storm spectacles with the chance of thunderstorms forecast for every afternoon this week.
