UPDATE: Police say a burnt out ute found on the side of a Lockyer Valley road was the same vehicle used in an early morning ram raid.

The yellow Mitsubishi four-wheel-drive tray back ute was found on the Forest Hill Fernvale Rd at Lynford this morning.

Its owner had left it parked on the side of the road at the intersection of the Warrego Hwy and Lowood Minden Rd about 9.30pm yesterday.

Police believe it was stolen sometime between then and 3am, when it was used in a ram raid at the Regency Downs Store.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

EARLIER: A ram raid has caused extensive damage to a Lockyer Valley store.

Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Sergeant Tim Bourke said someone unsuccessfully tried to gain entry through a rear door of the Regency Downs Store about 1am today.

However, a more direct attempt shortly before 3am has wrecked the front of the Staatz Quarry Rd store.

"A vehicle has attended the front window of the shop, obviously colliding with it and causing the window to fall from the front of the shop," Det. Sgt Bourke said.

He said nothing was taken and the vehicle was driven from the scene.

Detectives went to Forest Hill Fernvale Rd at Lynford about 8am after becoming aware of a burnt out car.

Police are working to determine whether or not the vehicle was related to the ram raid.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
