Man feels stingers and bite of police dog after chase

A BUNDAMBA man was chased down by a police dog on Saturday night after trying to flee police in a chase on the motorway.

According to police around 9.30 on Saturday night a Mercedes van was seen being driven dangerously on the Ipswich Motorway at Oxley.

Police pursued the van and deployed tyre deflation devices which eventually stopped the van on Old Ipswich Rd.

The Bundamba man then allegedly ran from the vehicle and was pursued on foot by a police dog unit who located him.

Goodna police apprehended and charged a 24-year-old man following a pursuit and foot chase ending on Old Ipswich Road, Riverview last night.

The 24-year-old is due to appear tomorrow in the Ipswich Magistrates Court charged with assaulting police, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, drive under the influence of liquor and fail to stop motor vehicle.
