Steelers take the Test

COFFS Harbour's Ben Newton has continued what has been stellar 12 months with the champion wheelchair rugby player with his Australian Steelers team defeating Great Britain in the final of the Wheelchair Rugby Test event.

Newton, who is captain of his club side Gold Coast Titans Wheelchair Rugby, put in a big performance for the Australian national team as it recorded a comprehensive 71-48 win.

What made the win more spectacular is that the Steelers had lost to Great Britain only hours earlier in the final pool match.

The win will see Australia head into London Paralympics as one of the favorites.

It is not the first time Newton has performed well on the international stage with the 24 year old staring in Australia's Asia Oceania Wheelchair Rugby Championships win in South Korea last year.
