Stars align for Ipswich team in NRL

THEY say that timing is everything and there isn't a better time than right now to put some media weight behind the call for an NRL team to be based in Ipswich.

With the 2014 league season just a month or so away from its grand final the NRL will sit down and look once again at its expansion plans.

The QT has campaigned for the past four years for a team to be brought to this league heartland and it's time to light up that fire again.

The Western Corridor bid's journey started in 2009 when former NRL CEO David Gallop toured the region with Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale.

Mr Gallop said at the time that Ipswich was an ideal area for another NRL side.

Few will forget his famous quote that when the game expands it must "go where the fish are biting".

Well the NRL should realise that while the fish are still biting there are other big game anglers dipping into the pond and the opportunity could well be lost.

David Gallop is now the boss of the A League and they are cashed and ready to expand. And the Brisbane Lions are halfway towards relocating to the Ipswich precinct.

This area is league to its boot straps and ready to embrace a team and the QT, from this Saturday, is on a mission to make sure the NRL powerbrokers hear our call. Stay tuned.
