Starc 'deported' after paperwork bungle

LEFT-ARM Aussie paceman Mitchell Starc has been "deported" by UK customs after a paperwork bungle.

Starc arrived in England for a stint with county side Yorkshire, but was forced to return to Australia after issues with his visa.

The New South Welshman posted on Twitter: "Well that's a first! Being deported from England ... surely nothing else can go wrong can it?!?!"

He was quick to clear everyone from blame, saying it had been "some miscommunication from Australia".

"Visa issue. Incorrect communication from Aus. Just to be clear guys, not Cricket Aus or York's fault. No one to blame."

Yorkshire, which is coached by former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie, said it was confident the matter could be resolved quickly.

The club issued a statement saying, "The necessary paperwork from Yorkshire County Cricket Club is in order and accepted by the UK Border Agency, but unfortunately is insufficient to allow Mitchell to fulfil the full visa requirement".

"We are hoping this matter can be resolved quickly in Australia and that he will return as soon as possible."
