South Qld hopes to change history
HISTORY does not favour the South Queenslanders as they head to Cairns for this weekend's Queensland Country Cup.
North has won the past three and five of the past six representative cricket clashes.
However South Queensland can take some hope into the game knowing the four Ipswich players involved are in good form.
South Queensland captain Ben O'Connell is coming off scores of 91 and 72, with an average of 68 for the Ipswich West Moreton Cricket Association Division One season so far.
With the ball he took 5-61 last time out against Brothers and has nine wickets at an average of 11 to his name.
In-form Eastern Taipans all-rounder Paul Milne has scored 71 not out and 65 from his past two knocks and is averaging 107 with the bat.
With the ball he's taken 10 wickets at an average of 20.
Fast bowling club mate Mark Lehmann's figures are not as impressive, but he has been on restricted duties while nursing an injured shoulder.
The good news is he came through 15 overs, taking 2-38 against Swifts on Saturday.
Kev Cumming has claimed 3-30 and 3-37 in his past two matches, helping keep Northsiders at the top of the Division One ladder.
He has claimed 12 wickets for the season at an average under 12.
