Social media tips to help your club bolster its profile

SOCIAL media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter offer clubs a quick, inexpensive and effective way to communicate with members, recruit new people and increase your fan base.

It is a good idea for your club to implement a Social Media Policy and have someone in your club responsible for monitoring and creating content.

Here are some tips:

  • Consider which form of social media will give you the most value, which social media sites are the most popular with your members and who has the skills to manage it.
  • Keep status updates fresh, interesting and insightful. Be regular, but not overwhelming.
  • Link your twitter account to your Facebook page so your updates are shown on both.
  • Twitter can be embedded into your club website - perfect for wet weather updates or any other last minute information.

For more information regarding social media and implementing a social media policy and plan within your club, talk to your Ipswich Sports house representative.

Curry coming to Ipswich

LAST week it was Australian netballer Laura Geitz; this week Lisa Curry is coming to Ipswich to "provide the real secrets to weight loss, fitness, illness prevention and a balanced life."

Former Olympian Curry will on Thursday provide a Fitness Workshop in d'Arcy Doyle Place.

Her workshop will be from 10-10.45am, followed by a seminar from 11am-1pm at Ipswich Fitness in the Mall.

The workshop and seminar are free for the community to attend and obtain the simple answers for a healthier life.

Register now on the Ipswich Sports House website.

Don't miss tomorrow's Junior Sport section for photos of Geitz helping young regional netballers in Ipswich.

Active breaks to enjoy

REGISTRATIONS are still open for the free Active Breaks activities.

This week's activities include athletics, tennis, netball, soccer and cricket.

With the weather hindering our outdoor activities, we ask that parents please "like'' the Ipswich Sports House Facebook page ( as we will be posting program information and cancellations there.

Nominate for prestigious awards

DON'T forget that Ipswich Sports Awards nominations are closing soon.

This is your chance to reward your team, club, athlete or a hard working volunteer for their achievements.
