Slither in for reptile showcase

A NEW designer species of snake - the Jaguar Carpet Python - will be showcased at this weekend's annual Scales and Tails Reptile Festival.

"Mr Conservation", Bob Irwin, will be one of four guest speakers, who also include Dr Gavin Bedford from Darwin's Crocosaurus Cove, Neville Burns from Blue Mountains Reptile Awareness and Scott Eipper from Nature 4 U.

Organiser Joy Kuligowski said the event was a "must attend" for anyone with an interest in reptiles.

Highlights include reptile displays and sales, about 30 stalls selling reptile products, wild care displays and entertainment.

Ipswich entertainer Neil Duddy and world-renowned guitarist Phil Emmanuel will provide live entertainment.

Scales and Tails Reptile Festival will be held at the Ipswich Showgrounds on Saturday from 9am to 8pm. Entry is $10 for adults and $5 for children 15 and under.
