Sink hole outside Steggles factory
ANOTHER major sink hole appeared on a busy Ipswich road yesterday afternoon.
The latest incident was reported on Toongarra Rd, Wulkuraka near the Steggles factory.
It was about 1.8m in diameter, however witnesses said it opened up further under the surface.
It affected in-bound traffic and also the entrance to the chicken factory.
Ipswich City Council sent staff and machinery to excavate the sink hole and determine the main issues causing it.
A series of sink holes have surfaced under Ipswich roads in recent years, the most significant being one at the city's busiest traffic intersection, the corner of East and Brisbane streets, in March 2009.
