Single dad loses all in house fire

A STRUGGLING single dad lost everything in a fire at his Dinmore home yesterday.

Troy Ranclaud had gone for a 15-minute drive to drop his son's girlfriend at work in Booval, about 11am yesterday.

When he returned his street was full of fire engines, ambulances and police and his house was on fire.

The devastated father of three - a disability pensioner - said he was horrified.

"I've got no insurance - I can't afford it," he said.

"I'm one of those people who makes sure everything is turned off. I've been thinking and thinking all day about what could have caused it."

Several firefighter crews rushed to the Kelly St home about 11.20am.

The fire was out by 11.50am, but not before the house was severely damaged.

The Salvation Army Ipswich has contacted Mr Ranclaud and offered its assistance.

Meanwhile, police have charged a 41-year-old Aspley man with arson following a house fire at Goodna on Thursday night.

Jason Andrew Muehlfenzl has been remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
