Showers settle in for the week

IF you're a fan of sunshine, best not to get your hopes up - at least for the next week.

Forecasters are predicting more rain for today, to be followed by six days of showers.

Although falls of less than 5mm were recorded across most parts of Ipswich yesterday, the Bureau of Meteorology was expecting rain to increase overnight.

The only positive to come from increased cloud cover is in the form of warmer overnight temperatures, which will vary between 12 and 15 degrees over the next seven days.

Yesterday's minimum of 11.1 was a welcome increase from a chilly four degrees on Thursday, although the presence of heavy cloud kept the maximum to just under 19 degrees.

Another cool maximum of 23 was forecast for today, with daytime maximums expected to climb into the mid 20s from tomorrow.
