Show puts a twist on Peter Pan magic

WHILE Queensland Ballet's Peter Pan performances are selling out at QPAC, young Ipswich actors are hoping their twist on the Disney classic will do the same.

Youngsters and the young at heart can embrace their inner child these school holidays when the Ipswich Musical Theatre Company Juniors present Peter Pan. The musical adaptation began yesterday with shows continuing until Sunday.

IMTC volunteer Angel Caplin said audiences could expect a fun-filled and enjoyable show.

"This time around we've got parents involved as well so there will be a lot going on," Ms Caplin said. "The kids have been working very hard as have the volunteers.

"It's a community theatre group so it's a lot of work but, when it all goes well, it's very rewarding."

Ms Caplin said the theatre group helped children boost confidence on the stage and in later life.

"This production of Peter Pan is a little bit edgy, somewhere between the Disney film and Hook," she said.

"For the price of a movie ticket, families can come along and we can guarantee they will leave the show feeling great."

Peter Pan the musical will be performed at Ipswich Girls' Grammar School in East Ipswich until Sunday.Tickets cost $15 eachand can be bought at the door.
