Shops dress up for window awards

IPSWICH business owners are being encouraged to dress up their shopfronts to celebrate the festive spirit as part of Ipswich's Magical Window Awards.

Ipswich Central marketing manager Sylvia Norton said 21 Ipswich central shops had registered already.

Top of Town's Province Modern Country owner Naomi George said the competition would encourage people to head into town and see what's on offer.

"It's about harking back to the days of window shopping," she said.

The competition is sponsored by Harvey Norman and first prize is an $800 voucher, second prize is a $300 voucher and third prize is a $200 voucher, with a shopper prize of $500 as well.

The judging is from Monday November 7 to Friday December 16.
