Share arts and culture

IF you have a passion for the arts, an interest in culture or you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves for the good of the community, then register now to be a volunteer for the Queensland Regional Arts and Cultural Conference: artspeak 2009 from November 18 to 20.

Presented in partnership with the Queensland Government, it will share excellence in regional arts and culture as well as identify the direction and build capacity of Queensland’s regional arts and cultural sector.

Volunteers are needed to work at the Boonah Cultural Centre, the Centre – Beaudesert and O’Reilly’s Vineyard at Canungra.

Volunteers will need to assist in the set up and tear down of events, room co-ordination, conference session attendants, conference break-out session attendants, meet and greet, closing ceremony duties and transport guides.

The conference includes keynote speakers, workshops, panel discussions and a program of artistic work.

Mayor John Brent urged the community to get involved.

“This is a fantastic chance for this region to show the rest of Queensland that we are truly a leader when it comes to arts and culture.

“This is the inaugural Regional Arts and Culture conference, it’s a testament to the esteem with which our region is held that the first of these conferences will be held in the Scenic Rim.”
