Severe thunderstorms forecast

SEVERE thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon across Ipswich and south-east Queensland.

“Another very warm and humid day is developing over south-east Queensland. We are likely to see temperatures reach the mid 30’s again today but light winds and high humidity will make it feel closer to 40°C,” said Tom Saunders, Meteorologist at The Weather Channel.

“A low-pressure trough extending across north-east New South Wales, and into south-east and central Queensland will bring severe storms this afternoon. They have the potential to become very dangerous with damaging winds, large hail and flash flooding all possible,” he continued.

“Once the trough moves through later today Ipswich will welcome a cooler south to south-easterly change and more settled weather for the remainder of the week,” he concludes.
