Seven die on Queensland roads

SEVEN people have died on Queensland roads since Friday night.

Police attended the scene of a fatal crash near Coen, on the Cape York Peninsula, this morning after a vehicle rolled shortly after midnight, AAP reports. Another man was transported to Cairns Base Hospital with injuries, police say.

A 34-year-old man was killed in a crash at Pikedale, near Stanthorpe in south Queensland after he reportedly lost control of his ute and crashed around 10pm on Saturday.

At 2pm yesterday, an 81-year-old Donnybrook woman died in a collision near Caboolture. AAP reported the woman was airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital where she died a short time later, while the other driver involved was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries.

Another man was killed after his car hit a tree near Dalveen, north of Stanthorpe, on Saturday morning.

The fatalities come after another tragedy on Friday night - a 24-year-old man and two children were killed when their car hit a tree outside of Jandowae, near Dalby.

Police are urging motorists to take caution on the roads.
