Serious injuries after fall from car

A WOMAN remains in a critical condition in hospital following an accident in which she fell from a moving vehicle.

The woman, who police said was 61-years-old, sustained multiple serious injuries on Thursday after she tried to pull a suicide door closed while travelling down the Cunningham Highway in a vintage car.

Police say the door accidentally flung open as the car drove through the Tarome area, just north of Cunningham's Gap.

The woman was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious head injuries, a large gash to her face, a broken right ankle and a broken right elbow.

Police are still investigating the incident.
