Sentence will be appealed for man who raped teen girls

THE Attorney-General will appeal the sentence handed to a man who drugged and raped three teenage girls.

Last month, the 47-year-old was sentenced in the Brisbane Supreme Court for a string of charges, including rape, drug possession and supplying a drug to a minor.

The man was arrested after giving a 13-year-old girl and her two 14-year-old friends speed at his Brisbane home before sexually assaulting them.

He was sentenced to five years jail but will be released on a suspended sentence after serving two years.

The Attorney-General confirmed he had directed the Crown to appeal the sentence on the grounds it was manifestly inadequate, not in line with community expectations and did not set an adequate deterrent.
