Seniors eye off classes to expand skills in fun week

IPSWICH seniors will have the chance to learn a variety of skills from photography to art and craft with the Arts Generation 2013 workshops.

Held in conjunction with Seniors Week, the workshops will be hosted by Artsconnect at the North Ipswich Corporate Centre, The Terrace, on Thursday.

Organiser Suzanne Lewis said eight different workshops would cover topics including jewellery making, memoir writing and how to use tablets and iPads to create your own art and craft.

Photographer and picture framer David Davies will also lead a practical photography session for seniors.

"The photography workshop in particular will be really good for people who have retired and are going away on holidays and taking their camera," Ms Lewis said.

"They will be able to learn how to capture some great quality photos of their trip."

Ipswich City Council has provided funding for the activities.

There will be a $5 entry fee, which includes all activities and morning tea.

Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting the council on 3810 6655.
