Senior police officer charged with drink driving

A BRISBANE police officer will face court later this month after allegedly blowing almost twice the legal blood alcohol limit when pulled over for a random breath test.

The senior constable, 39, was off duty and was not driving a police car at the time.

He was waved down at Yatala at 10.45pm on Sunday night.

Police recorded a 0.084% BAC level.

The officer is now to front Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 15.

According to Queensland Police Service, "This matter will be considered within the QPS disciplinary system".
