See Katie Noonan's new look and sound at gig

KATIE Noonan will return to our region to perform at Spicers Hidden Vale as part of her national Transmutant tour this weekend.

Noonan said Transmutant, the new album by her new band, Vanguard, signifies the personal changes the she's gone through over the past few years.

"These songs have my most private lyrics to date; Transmutant is a very personal album," she said.

Noonan actually 'lost' one of the songs on this album, and it was thanks to a fan that she was able to get the song back.

"The song is called Unwinnable Race and it's about having someone close to you that is quite unwell and how everyone deals with that in different ways," she said.

"I did it as a very random demo at a gig with my guitarist at a place in Perth called The Ellington. I jammed the song with him and forgot about it.

"When I was getting ready for the pre-production of this record I thought this song would fit it, but I had no record of it.

"Then a fan sent it to me as a link on YouTube, so then I went to re-learn my own song from that YouTube link."

With special guests MKO supporting, guests are invited to arrive with picnic rugs and settle in from 12pm onward.

With views out over the Little Liverpool ranges it is set to be an unforgettable afternoon.
