IPSWICH'S history is being captured for the future via the Picture Ipswich website, which is an online database of images operated by the Ipswich Library and Information Service to capture the lifestyle and history of Ipswich.
Picture Ipswich now contains 9200 records, providing a unique insight into the local history of Ipswich.

1860: The second St Mary's Catholic Church, on the current site, held its first mass
1901: Queensland Ambulance Service began at North Ipswich
1936: Incinerator opened at Queens Park
1947: Graves of American servicemen buried at Manson Park exhumed and returned to the United States
1965: Ipswich PCYC officially opened
1984: Grande Hotel demolished
1985: Ipswich Council Administration building opened
1988: Final stage of Ipswich Mall completed when Woolworths opened.
