Sea Eagles focused on title not probe

MANLY skipper Daly Cherry-Evans insists the NRL's salary cap probe will not disrupt the Sea Eagles premiership focus.

The NRL integrity unti began investigations this week after the club was accused of making illegal top-up payments to players.

However Cherry-Evans said rumours and speculation will not distract the club who currently sit in the top four ahead of the finals in seven weeks.

"If something actually goes wrong, of course it will. But as far as speculation goes, that's not derailing anyone's season," Cherry-Evans said.

"We'll continue to do our job as players and try and win football games. And front office are going to make sure that they do everything they can to get this club's name cleared again."

While frustrated he and his teammates have had to address the allegations publicly Cherry-Evans applauded his club's approach to the issue.

"I applaud the front-foot mentality to have it all done as soon as possible," he said.

"The damage can be done just from the allegations themselves but hopefully there's a big song and dance about it if and when we are cleared."
