Scudds sisters lead Sports to first win against Occasionals

SISTERS Tracey and Lee Scudds were the heroes as Sports shocked the Occasionals in their Ipswich first division vigoro match on Saturday.

Tracey struck an unbeaten 37 and Lee took a match total six wickets and made three runouts as Sports scored a first innings win.

It was Sports' first victory in the competition this season, and can prove to be a much-needed boost to the team.

"We all knew a win would eventually come, but the best thing was seeing everyone playing well and contributing," Tracey said.

"Our bowlers were really good and were supported well by our fielders, which made all the difference.

"To get the Occasionals out for just 46 was a terrific effort."

Tracey was quickly in her stride as Sports made 70 in their first innings.

It was too much for the Occasionals, who managed only 46 in reply.

Lee took 4/21 bowling for Sports and snared two wickets during Occasionals second dig, which declared on 63, leaving Sports needing 40 runs for an outright victory.

However, rain denied Sports any chance of reaching the total.

Meanwhile, TC United scored a comprehensive first innings victory over the Wildcats with Jodie Spall and Kate Johnstone taking seven wickets between them.

Bronwyn Brown top-scored for the Wildcats with 32.
