Scottish pipe band championships draw crowds

ALTHOUGH they didn't come away with the title this year, the Ipswich Thistle Pipe Band did the city proud when they impressed crowds at the Queensland Pipe Band Championships.

Band member Katrina Stead said more than 400 people turned out to watch the bands perform and soak up the friendly Scottish hospitality on Saturday.

"It was a great day," she said.

"Everyone played really well.

"I am really happy with our performance and the support from the crowd was great."

Ms Stead said the band came sixth overall and would be back again next year, ready to take out the title.
