Scots pupils, teachers in mourning after girl’s death

THE Scots PGC College is in mourning following the sudden and tragic death of one of its newest boarders.

The 15-year-old girl, who had attended the school for only a month, died on Sunday evening.

College principal Simon Shepherd said it is believed the cause was related to a pre-existing heart condition.

Mr Shepherd was emotional when speaking of the impact the girl had on the school community during her short time as a student.

"Despite having only been a boarder for a month she had forged strong relationships within the college community and the college is striving to support all students, staff and most importantly her family," he said.

"We are holding a memorial service (today) as a celebration of her life and her all too brief time with us.

"At this time our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

"We offer them our sympathy and will steadfastly support them with care, empathy and respect."

Mr Shepherd said it was touching to see how the school had rallied together during such a difficult time.

"We are a very tight-knit community and at times like this, it shows the true character of the school and it is amazing," he said.
