Santa to stop in Glamorgan Vale

SANTA and one of his elves are making their way to Glamorgan Vale for the annual Community Christmas Carnival on Saturday.

With rides for children, food stalls, entertainer Kev Smith and the ham wheel offering chances to win a ham, the day promises to be a fun night for the whole family.

The carnival will start at 5pm at the Glamorgan Vale Community Hall with Santa arriving at 7pm.

Glamorgan Vale Hall Committee president Doc Hannah said the event was a great night for the community.

"The Christmas carnival is our major fundraising event for the year," Mr Hannah said.

"We'd love to see a big turn out. It's been a tough year for many people after the devastating floods early in the year.

"The carnival gives the community an opportunity to come together and celebrate the festive season."

Funds raised this year will go towards the replacement of the hall's corrugated iron roof which is more than 80 years old.

"This is one of the biggest projects we have undertaken," Mr Hannah said."The total cost will be close to $20,000 so any funds raised will go towards this project."
