Ryder has the answers to Mt Crosby Rd traffic nightmares
BARRY Ryder insists he has the solutions to what he termed "the Mt Crosby Rd traffic chaos".
Mr Ryder said he had owned his property in Division 5 since 1967 and worked on the council for 35 years "with much pride", as his father had before him.
He said he had experience with road construction from his time on council and outlined his solution to the Mt Crosby Rd headaches.
"That can only be achieved by the widening of Mt Crosby Rd from Sandy Creek at North Tivoli to the roundabout at the intersection of Mt Crosby Rd, Junction and Brodzig roads, inclusive of a duplicate bridge over the Warrego Hwy," he said.
"Without that duplicate bridge any work is useless...and you will not have a satisfactory outcome.
"That's because you will not have the capacity to increase traffic volume without that second bridge.
"Working on roundabouts will not solve the problem.
"Sometimes I take 15 or 20 minutes to get home from Tivoli school just because the traffic is banked up from the Warrego Hwy roundabout back to the Tivoli school."
Mr Ryder said he was committed to undertake "forward planning for the construction of a new all-weather bridge over Colleges Crossing" for the sake of residents who live nearby.
"I think that should be a high priority in the long term," he said.
Mr Ryder said there needed to be "a reintroduction of a qualified council soil tester plus staff and suitable facilities to ensure that sewer, storm water and roadwork infrastructure is being carried out in accordance with ICC (regulations)."
BARRY RYDER RATING - 6/10: Didn't finish his speech but his love for the division was palpable.
