Ryan in doubt for Socceroo campaign

Battling a knee injury, Socceroos' goalkeeper Mat Ryan is still no certainty to play in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Kyrgyzstan and Bangladesh.

Australia will face Kyrgyzstan at Canberra's GIO Stadium tomorrow night, followed by Bangladesh in Dhaka next Tuesday night.

Ryan injured his knee while playing for Spanish side Valencia in August.

"Over the past couple of months I've just taken it each day as it comes," the 23-year-old said.

"I want to make sure I'm 100% right and at the moment I can only go about it each day to see how I feel."

Ryan missed Australia's past three qualifiers, with Bournemouth 'keeper Adam Federici filling in.

The Socceroos, who had a training session yesterday, will hope to get their Road to Russia 2018 campaign back on track.

Defeat to Jordan last month - a 2-0 loss in Amman - has left no room for error in their final four games of this Group B stage.

Massimo Luongo, the player of the Asian Cup in January, believes the pressure of this game will bring out the best in him and his teammates.

"(The loss to Jordan) builds the pressure up a little bit, but as a squad we're quite good at dealing with the pressure," he said.

"I think we play better with the pressure.

"We were in a comfort zone a little bit leading up to Jordan so that could have been a slight excuse (for the result)."

Australia is second behind Jordan, Kyrgyzstan is third.
