Rocky duo strike up chord in Darling Harbour for Dalai Lama

11am: BUSBY Marou just performed a gig they'll never forget.

The Rockhampton boys sang two songs for the Dalai Lama in Sydney.

They got to meet the Tibetan monk/leader, but just for a moment.

Jeremy Marou said the Dalai Lama said a quick hello and shook their hands before heading off. "It was quite the experience, something we'll always remember," Jeremy said.

They sang their song, Lhasa, which was written about Tibet.

3.20pm Tuesday: EVERY musician dreams of performing for a special celebrity but Busby Marou got the golden ticket of a lifetime to perform a song one of the duet wrote after a trip to Tibet in front of the Dalai Lama.

The Rockhampton duo had the honour of performing for the Dalai Lama in Sydney on Sunday.

They were selected to play at Darling Harbour for the Gathering of Tibet event where thousands of people turned out to see the Tibetan spiritual leader.

They sung "Lhasa", a song written after Busby travelled through Tibet a few years ago.

The boys say they were extremely lucky and humbled by the experience.

Now, Jeremy Marou is busy planning this Friday night's Evening on the Green  event in Rockhampton.

A number of local acts will hit the stage at the Capricorn Country golf Club and this time Thomas Busby will perform with his side project band Good Oak.

It's a good chance to see the boys play in their side projects before they tour with Busby Marou again (busbymarou.com).

They've already begun recording their second studio album, heading to Nashville to lay tracks earlier this year.

The night will help raise funds for Rockhampton's PULS8 Dance Studios.

The junior dancers are preparing for the Aussie International Cheer & Dance Championships on the Gold Coast next month (July 5).
