Robbers target bottle shops

POLICE believe that the same offenders may be responsible for two break-ins committed within a half-hour of each other at Ipswich bottle shops overnight.

A white Hyundai hatchback and a stolen black Toyota Yaris were used in the first of the smash and grab incidents at the BWS bottle shop at Redbank Plains shopping centre, about 2am Monday.

The offenders used rocks to smash the windows of the shop, on the corner of Keidges Rd and Redbank Plains Rd, before stealing an undisclosed amount of alcohol.

No more than half an hour later, an unknown vehicle was used to rip the front security grill from the front of the Karalee Cellars bottle shop.

The store was significantly damaged in the raid, however police were unable to confirm how much product was stolen.

Anyone with information that could assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
