Robber threatens staff with tomahawk

POLICE are searching for a man who held up an Ipswich service station armed with a tomahawk during an alarming attack.

A man believed to be aged in his 30s entered the service station on Warwick Rd, Yamanto, at 6.45pm Tuesday.

Police said he walked into the service station and demanded staff hand over cash, threatening staff with the axe.

The employee handed over the money and the man left the store.

No one was injured during the robbery.

The man is described as Caucasian and about 35-40 years of age.

Police sources said the man was wearing a yellow and blue high-visibility shirt, dark knee-length shorts and thongs.
