Robber in court after 13 years

THE past caught up with an Ipswich woman this week, when she faced court for a robbery from 13 years ago.

Ipswich District Court was told the woman, now 28, robbed four girls of $95 on the Gold Coast in 1997.

She disappeared and a warrant was issued. She was arrested in 1999 and given bail in 2000 but disappeared again. Last year she was arrested again and pleaded guilty to stealing and robbery.

Crown Prosecutor Sal Vasta said the woman should be sentenced to three to four months jail and should not be rewarded for fleeing.

But defence barrister Phillip Hardcastle said his client turned her life around. She was sentenced to three months jail wholly suspended for six months.
