Transport routes disrupted

ROADS and public transport routes in and out of Ipswich were severely disrupted yesterday with more problems expected to plague the city today.

More than 25 roads were closed throughout the city, with the Ipswich Motorway closed at stages, and Colleges Crossing, the Mt Crosby weir crossing and Moggill Ferry all inaccessible.

Many other bridges and crossings were also closed and hundreds of roads were cut in the flood-ravaged western council regions of Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset.

Trains were also affected, with no trains going beyond Ipswich towards Rosewood on the Queensland Rail city train network.

The RACQ is warning motorists to stay off the roads unless travel is “absolutely essential” due to the continuing rain and flooding.
