Road repair ‘not good enough’

RESIDENTS are furious at what they have dubbed a “poor repair job” of a “dangerous” stretch Gatton-Esk Rd in Mt Hallen prompting locals to ask if the job was in fact finished.

“They’ve levelled it off smoother, but they haven’t covered it with bitumen and it will just erode again,” resident Chris Tucker said.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads said the work had been completed by Somerset Regional Council in April.

After hearing residents’ concerns, Somerset mayor Graeme Lehmann said council would go back and work on the 50m stretch of road.

“Upon review of the completed works, additional sealing works are scheduled for this week,” Cr Lehmann said.
