Residents relaxed on Whitehaven Beach for Australia Day

A TRIP to enjoy the white sand and turquoise water of Whitehaven Beach was an offer too good to refuse.

Cruise Whitsundays treated locals of their Turtle Club to an Australia Day experience.

Guests of the club boarded the vessel at the Port of Airlie for the day trip to the Whitsunday beach while enjoying true blue Aussie tunes like 'Down Under' by Men At Work.

Once on the beach a barbecue was served while most donned stinger suits to enjoy an afternoon swim in the sea.

Beach cricket and a tug of war competition were also enjoyed by residents.

On the way back to the Airlie Beach mainland guests enjoyed an Australia Day tradition - lamingtons.

Daily Mercury photojournalists Shakira Sellen and Lee Constable were guests of Cruise Whitsundays.
