These were the most notable prosecutions outlined in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions annual report released this week.

The report noted upcoming high-profile cases, which the office took responsibility for in the past financial year, included Brett Peter Cowan, accused of killing Daniel Morcombe, and Gerard Baden-Clay for alleging killing his wife Allison.

The ODPP also noted fake Tahitian prince Hohepa Morehu-Barlow being committed to stand trial for allegedly defrauding Queensland Health of $16.6 million and its involvement in recouping some of the money.

The confiscation unit helped restrain $20.86 million worth of property through crimes in Queensland.

The ODPP received 32,105 charges related to 7769 accused in the 2011-12 year.

It conducted 1021 trials, 4562 sentences, 375 bail hearings and 631 appeals.

The Victim Liaison Service had 45,388 contacts with victims or family members through either letters, phone calls, SMS or face-to-face meetings.
